Christmas Greetings

How wonderful it is when the Lord uses you when someone is lost in darkness, blind and at their wits end who comes onto the bus and you can tell them of the love of God.
The light of His dear Son shines on the blind eyes; the salve of His word allows to see how lost they are and how dark life without the Lord Jesus Christ is.
Once again the dear Lord has used beggars like us to show other beggars where to get bread. Only God knows who will be saved. That is why we love to share our bread of life with others a slice at a time, respecting where they are at.
We try to encourage them to think about their future without the Lord, then showing them the benefits with the Lord through His Gospel.
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given.”
He came to save us from our sins and let us this advent overcome self and share our bread with a beggar.
May the reality of this momentous event cause us to love and share the Lord Jesus Christ more.
A most blessed Christmas to you all.
Mick.

Note from Annie

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support after my little episode a couple of months ago. I’m awaiting results but things seem to be fine now Praise The Lord.
The Lord has blessed us once again this year with being able to do the shows and with such a glorious summer. It’s good to catch up with old friends near and far and to hear the children looking for the church tent to see their little faces after painting them is truly a blessed time.
God Bless – Annie.

Trip to Canada

I was surprised when asked to write something about our
trip to Canada earlier this year. I thought to myself, “What does that has to do with
the ministry of our Godpod?” But of course it is all work done to promote the great
and glorious Kingdom of Jesus, and to make Him better known!
So, I’d better explain about our trip! Before we came to the Island, my wife
and I worked in the far north of Canada with Eskimo and N. American Indian people.
As an Anglican Minister I had a number of parishes during the thirteen and a half years
that we lived there. Having retired from full time ministry here on the Island a little
while ago, my Bishop from The Diocese of The Arctic called to ask if we could help
with some teaching and training of Lay Readers back in our “old patch.”
So grabbing our parkas, we headed north for a proper winter, and spent three months
there in five different communities working with these lovely people.
What a huge privilege it was to be able to go back and revisit our old friends,
and share the things of God with them. And this is where the connection lies with the work of
the Bus! For we all have this great responsibility and calling, to share the Good News of Jesus
with those around us. Mick and the team have a particular vision to do so using the bus to
reach needy people. We need to pray and do what we can to support them in the important
work that they do. Our prayers will make a difference, let’s try to be faithful in our prayers for this work of making Jesus known through the bus ministry and in any other way available.
God Bless you in this important work!
Rev Andy Yorke.

Thanks to all who continue to pray for the outreach and for the work of God on the island as a whole. We pray that the Lord of the harvest will send labourers into His harvest field yet more.

New Year
If the Lord wills, in 2014 we will be in readiness for the various outreach events through the different seasons, as well as the evening bus venues each week. With each year we are aware it is not just a repetition of the norm but a fresh opportunity of witness and to be available for what God has called us to do. As long as He grants us the wherewithal, strength and unction to do so, then that is our meat and drink indeed. We do not know where or when the words of eternal life will be imparted to someone who the Lord is preparing or where one of His sheep is weak and hurting and needs that balm of encouragement in the things of God.
The changes of life often come at us from nowhere and the unexpected lands at our door, which shakes us to the core. As God’s people we are not exempt from the trials of life and maybe that is your experience at this time where the ground has been pulled out from beneath you. Though these things are not understood at the time, we can know through them, the strength and peace beyond understanding in the Lord Jesus Christ who took the crushing weight of our sin on Himself. Only He is the true giver of peace and loves us with an everlasting love.
May the dear Lord Himself bless you richly.

We would like to wish each of you a very Blessed Christmas & a Happy New Year.
– the Team and Trustees.

Prayer
‘Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.” ‘– Luke 10: 2.

‘Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour, ‘ – 1 Timothy 2: 2, 3.

…praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— Ephesians 6: 18.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; – Phillipians 4: 6.

The scriptures speak loud and clear when exhorting us to pray and just a select few verses shown above shows that the range of needs is never outside of the scope of prayer, covering every aspect of life we know. There is nothing outside of the sovereign reign of our God and Father and we are directed/encouraged to draw near to the throne of grace with confidence through Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Thank you to all those who have continued to lift the team in prayer, as we know it is so vital always. We do also have a prayer clock where people have committed 15-minute slots or multiple slots throughout each day. The slots people have covered have for a while now covered 24 hours with a good number more than once. If you would like to pray in this way then please contact David Sibley on 854903 / 07967912226 or e-mail at dave_lin@hotmail.co.uk.

With thanks
Once again we would like to take the opportunity to thank those who have supported by giving for this work. We thank the Lord for this indeed and for His continued kindness to us through His people. Well, we have been going into Shanklin each Thursday evening for a number of weeks now and cut Newport down to one night which is Fridays. We have completed other parts of the work for this year on the streets and the county shows. It continues to be a blessing and times for learning and growing in the Lord. It was good to see familiar faces along the way and catch up with friends old and new. We continue as always with the prayer of asking the Lord if He wills us to continue with what we are doing as being about His business. – The Grace Of The Lord Jesus Christ be with you and your loved ones always,

Amen – Team and Trustees

Greetings

“The Word of God is alive and active, sharper than any two edged sword…’ Hebrews 4: 12 GNB.

Earlier this year I celebrated my 79th birthday. It’s strange how the years go by and it seems like yesterday since I joined the God-pod team in Ventnor. There have been many countless hours since then, twice a week for 14 years, each minute well worth it.

Sometimes the Lord has blessed us to see someone drawn to Himself and we rejoice in that, but mostly it is a matter of love and patience when we talk to people about the love of Jesus. Our main function at all times is to sow the seeds of truth as contained in the scriptures and to keep planting continually.

Prayer is very important and a lot of time is spent praying for people and for this island amongst other things, as we are led. We all know that God moves through the prayer of His people.

This Easter we have had two teams going out around the island, one team walking the cross and the other visiting our towns singing and praising the Lord while also explaining the proper meaning of Easter. It was good to have a few other folk join us on some of these days, for which we thank the Lord.

Although I am now getting ancient, I hope to continue on the bus for as long as the Lord provides me with good health and strength.  After all, our lives are in His hands, no matter how old, or young, we are. After these 14 years I would say I still feel like a novice. Remember that Moses did not begin his ministry until he was 80 years old.  If you would like to come and see us or would like to come out with us then contact any of the numbers on this newsletter. With that, I will close for now – Bernard Penney (Trustee and Team member)

Prayer Clock

I would like to thank everyone on the prayer clock for their ongoing commitment, prayer is so important, so please continue to pray for the bus outreach, and the work that is done. Can you please pray for the shows that we are attending. God Bless you all.

I would just like to share some experiences we had during the Easter outreach, firstly during our time of singing worship songs and presenting the sketch board, a group of people sat by us the whole time, when we had finished, they thanked us and said how nice it was and how much they had enjoyed it. One lady wanted to know more and we were able to share with her our reasons for what we were doing and why. She told us that she believes there is a heaven and a place of darkness and torment, known as hell.

We told her about the bus outreach, and her son who was with her said that he had often been on the bus when in Newport. We gave her some leaflets to read and she was happy for us to pray for her.  As we were packing away our equipment, she asked if she could sing a song for us, and with that she sang in a lovely voice “Yes Jesus loves me”. We left feeling that what we do  is really  rewarding!  At our next venue later on that day, we had quite a different experience, as we were again preaching with the sketch board, two people sat down and listened to what was being said. A group of boys were near to us doing a spot of fishing and watching the sketch board, they were quite happy to openly admit they believed that there is a heaven and a hell, up until this. others listening nearby quite intently were agreeing with what had been said, then the word “hell” was mentioned, with that they got up from their seat and told us we were wrong. They quickly walked away!. That day we saw two totally different reactions to the truth.

The Continuing Work

Greetings, we would like to thank everybody for their prayers for the Easter outreach in terms of fruit. The Lord knows who was saved and as far as we are concerned it was a season for sowing for which we are ever grateful to the dear Lord and His people.

We had a superb day sharing at the Bembridge Street Fair this bank holiday Monday and the dear Lord blessed us with lovely weather indeed. We are thankful to the organisers of this event for making us room to take part and thanks to those who came and shared fellowship with us. We are at present trying to find a parking space for The God Pod and also storage for our show equipment. The owner of our present parking spot now has planning permission for change of use. We continually present the outreach to the Lord to see if He wants us to continue witnessing and the answer to our prayer is that people are still coming to the God Pod seeking Salvation. Praise The Lord! So… we will continue.

May the Lord bless you and your families from husband and wife team Mick and Annie.

Sincere Thanks For Faithful Giving

We wish to express our sincere thanks for all the faithful support we receive and appreciate the regular donations and direct debit giving. It is most important that we say “Thank you”. Without this support we would be very limited in our outreach for the Lord.

Grateful thanks to you.

God bless   Roy

Let us but feel that He has His heart set upon us, that He is watching us from those heavens with tender interest, that He is following us day by day as a mother follows her babe in his first attempt to walk alone, that He has set His love upon us, and in spite of ourselves is working out for us His higher will and blessing, as far as we will let Him – and then nothing can discourage us.

Closing Greeting & Invitation

Well it doesn’t seem that long ago since Christmas and Easter seems to have come around again so quickly. Some of the team with Mick will be out again during Holy Week walking the Cross. The rest of the team will be out witnessing in various towns. As per last year we will be about an hour in each town and you would be most welcome to join us at this blessed time – God Bless Annie.
As the old song goes “Here we go again “and “Another year older and deeper in debt*, not from bad management but in debt to the Dear Lord for His enabling us to walk again around the Island this Holy Week. It is a time of great blessing to pray, sing hymns and encourage each other through the pain and discomfort that we often experience. We would like to invite anyone who would be willing to join us in this witness as you would be most welcome. Please contact any email or telephone number shown on the newsletter.
We would be very grateful for your prayers that people would only see the “Old Rugged Cross” and that we would bear fruit that glorifies God and that lasts.

Greetings
I would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who has given to the continuing work of the Gospel. Christmas can be a time of rejoicing or sorrow, the most wonderful gift is what God gave us 1 Tim 1:5. ‘Here is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners’ and so we can proclaim IMMANUEL God with us. As I write this everywhere rivers are bursting their banks and spreading over the land but surely there is something more deadly than that Sin is spreading everywhere. This is a wonderful time to present God’s covenant of Grace, William Hendriksen said ‘It is the riverbed over which the water of life flows toward us from the depths of election.’ So let us together rescue those in trouble with some real good news.

Your most grateful worker, Mick.

A Testimony

What I was before I got saved – I was a lost soul living in sadness and darkness not knowing why I’m here. After straying from the faith for many years, I thought “there is no way back.” I’d done and said so many things that I thought He could never forgive me. I had jumped ship with the devil for all those years.

What happened – Every week there is a bus that comes to my area with Christians that gather together to talk about the Lord. I used to walk past every week and not go in as I thought that Jesus would not want me or forgive me for all the bad things that I’ve said and done! Mick asked me one night to come and talk and I’m so glad I did! I told him how bad I’d been then Mick told me that Jesus loves and forgives me and that He’s been waiting for me to come to Him. If I’m truly sorry He will give me new life and freedom from the devil and my guilt.

What I’ve become – Having been forgiven, a heavy weight has been lifted. I’m not angry at people anymore and at what has happened in the past. If Jesus can forgive me then I can forgive others as I am now following Him. I just wanted to say thank you very much to all who have prayed that I would come to know Jesus. Also thank you to those who have provided food. If God does not do anything else, I’m so glad that He has taken away the guilt of the past.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas. Love Lou.

Prayer Clock

The prayer clock is where anyone can choose a single 15 minute slot or more during the 24 hours to pray for the Island for God’s mercy to be known and for all those who minister the gospel. We still have the majority of slots covered but we don’t mind if times are doubled up, or more.

Paul Carter

Arrangements for Paul’s weekend teaching sessions will be announced in the next newsletter for 2013. We have been challenged and encouraged in the bible teaching that has been relevant

and we would recommend this teaching to all who value the bible today.

Thanks To Everyone Who Supports Financially.

I feel that it is always important to say “thank you”. We try to encourage young children to say “please and thank you” as we consider this as good manners. So a real heartfelt thank you to you who support us financially. Without this faithful support we would struggle to keep the bus on the road and you are playing your part for the kingdom by providing the necessary funding. Please accept our thanks from all the Trustees and Bus Team members.

Christmas and New Year

The team will participate in one more event this year. We are pleased to be once again leading the Carol service at The Wayfarers Chapel in Castle Street, Carisbrooke on the evening of Sunday 23rd December – 6.30pm. Visitors are most welcome on the night. We pray that the dear Lord would truly speak to those who do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. He alone can change their hearts and breathe life into the spoken word.

Many will attend a church service out of tradition or as part of their festivities. They will sing carols about a young babe born in Bethlehem. To others the turkey, wine and parties beckon and people will continue to celebrate without looking to who that baby Jesus really is. He came to die for all our sins. We need to intercede before God for the veil to be lifted from their eyes, to behold the love of the Saviour. For still others, Christmas will be different than last year because of loss and difficult circumstances that weigh so heavy. We pray that they may be able to come to Christ and meet Him as He suffered for them. As God’s people, we trust that you may find comfort in His presence and be renewed in Him.

The Lord willing, we will be ready for an earlier Easter season in 2013 at the end of March where Mick and the team will once again walk the cross around the island. There will also be a street witness throughout some of our Island towns as a follow up.

May God bless you richly & those you love, from the Bus team and Trustees.

Have a lovely Christmas time & and we trust a Happy New Year.

Greetings
This has been a difficult year, first a hernia repair and then a broken ankle. Praise the Lord, good has come out of it as other team members now drive the bus. While I was waiting for the news to start on TV, a programme called Xtra factor was on. A girl’s mother and family said how wonderful her daughter was, but quite honestly she could not make a noise tunefully. Needless to say, she was torn to pieces by the judges, audience and millions of people. It would have been more loving of her mum and family to say ‘Sorry love but you haven’t got a good voice’, rather than humiliate her in front of millions. It made me think about today’s church, how it is reluctant to correct someone when what they’re doing will end in disappointment or even tragedy. Instead of speaking to them in love it’s left to God, when clearly He has given those in authority a responsibility to correct in the love of Jesus Christ.
We spoke to a 27-year-old about their life and as a result they re-dedicated their life to the Lord Jesus Christ – there’s nothing like the thrill of faith.

They have a theology that has dwindled into a philosophy, in which there is no thrill in faith, no terror of doom and no concern for souls.
Unbelief has put out the fires of passion and worldliness garlands the altar of sacrifice with the tawdry glitter of unreality.
If we leave the “C” out of commission we have omission, let us be faithful in our Christ mission’.
With love Mick.
Once again the shows have been a great success for which we praise and thank the Lord.
New people joining the team this year with their skills has been a great asset.
Renewing friendships with Island people and those on holiday whose first stop is the God Pod, it’s always a real blessed time.
Every blessing Annie.

Pray for Repentance

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep, which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.”
As the Godpod and others go out offering the hand of the Saviour – please PRAY for young people who will be out on the streets and drinking alcohol to the extreme. Pray for the government who make the licensing laws and also the drinks companies who make and promote alcohol. Pray for the police and family members who deal with the fall out. Please pray for repentance.

Time Moves On But God Never Changes

We are fast approaching the end of another year. Many of us face changing scenes of life, challenges and loss. We are not devoid of trials as the Lord’s people and the unrelenting path of time can be daunting. The world continues in a collision course with eternity; mankind continues to spiral in the wrong direction when it continues without Christ; the nations plot and rage as the race of history unfolds. One thing is certain though through it all, – ‘His-story’ will unfold!

We serve a living sovereign God and creator who knows the end from the beginning. He is not taken by surprise and His plans are always perfect. He has made Himself known to us in the person of His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He has revealed His eternal love to us through the cross and that finished work of redemption. God is pleased to save completely every repentant sinner who comes to Jesus. Just to contemplate that, we realise how much we have needed that wonderful salvation and continue to need His mercy every day. When we realise that, we become aware of a dying world that is in dire need of an outpouring of the power of God in it,’s midst. These things can only fuel our path to the throne of grace to seek God in worship, awe and renewed trust.

Quote: All of our times are in our Redeemer’s hands!

That same Redeemer who carried our sorrows in His heart; our curse and sins on His soul; our cross on His shoulder; who died; who rose again; who lives and intercedes for us, and who will gather all His ransomed around Him in glory — is your Guardian and your Guide!

Your times are in the hands of Him who still bears the print of the nails! – Octavius Winslow.

God bless you and those you love, from the Bus team and Trustees.

September 2011 NEWSLETTER

Greetings in Jesus name,

I am standing in the grounds of Wolverton Manor thinking about our next newsletter and what to share. Well it wasn’t long when a lovely young girl gave me a kiss on the cheek. She was with her husband and two lovely children. Not long after that a young man came and shook my hand with his wife and two children. It may not seem much, but then consider that our first meeting with them was at the time when Paul Tombleson and myself went out at first with the caravan on the streets 20 years ago. The relationship with them is as still as fresh as ever, not surprising when the things of the Lord are new every morning.

All the shows we attend are different but the message remains the same. I think it is the most exciting thing to be a Christian, to be able to bring, by God’s grace, help to those who need it and a challenge when necessary. The Lord willing, we will renew these bonds next year to show people we are just ordinary and willing to be used by an extraordinary God.

It seems to me the modern message of the gospel is, ‘God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life.’ The word ‘wonderful’; I wonder how that would go down whispering in Stephens’ ear as the rocks smashed into him (wonderful); or even Paul as he was being flogged (wonderful); also the dear Lord was scourged, crucified for our offences – wonderful! Of course God has a plan but it is always in line with the cross…’God so loved.., God commended His love etc (John 3 v16; Romans 5 v 5-8). The Christian faith has never been a bed of roses. Before the rose – first comes the thorns. Until we speak the truth in love and share with others that sin will always separate us from God’s love and protection, people will never experience that wonderful joy that only the Lord Jesus Christ can bring – making new, not repairing – new life, hope and purpose for living. Even in times of affliction, we can still witness for the Lord.

If we are looking for revival, be honest and ask yourself what are you doing to bring that about. You could ask the Lord of the harvest to send you out. Jesus said, ‘Go..’, not ‘stay in.’ (1 Corinthians 15: 58). ‘It is true that (many) are praying for word-wide revival but it would be more timely and more scriptural for prayer to be made to the Lord of the harvest, that He would raise up and thrust forth labourers who would fearlessly and faithfully preach those truths which are calculated to bring about a revival – AW Pink

‘Those who are converted by God cannot be talked out of their faith, because they were never talked into it’ (John 15: 16).

In love – Mick.

Summer Shows

Once again, Lin, Jules and myself had a challenging time at this years show , not only the fact that we didn’t have the youngsters there helping us with face painting and putting up the and taking down the tent. The Lord blessed us again, enabling us to use our talents with the children, to witness to His saving grace and why we do what we do. The look on the children’s faces after face painting is priceless. It was time this year for renewing ever growing friendships with people on the island and my home town and we look forward to seeing them, the Lord willing, next year.

Love Anne.

Word from Bernard

‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all He created. ‘ – James 1 v 17, 18.

The bus team has been very busy over the summer sharing God’s word. The bus is now out 5 nights a week including Ryde, which has recently been added. It is always a delight to welcome people onto the bus, whether unsaved or those who need encouraging in their Christian walk. We do pray that the unsaved folk will come to know the Lord’s saving grace, in His good time, to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Keep praying for God’s saving work on this island for the multitude of people who do not know eternal life and the joy and peace through Jesus Christ.

Bernard G. Penney – Trustee.

Thank you for your continued interest and support, may the Lord bless you as you seek to honour Him.

From the Trustees and Bus Team Members.
