Happy and Blessed Christmas to you all
I have just finished the book of Job and I’m going through the Psalms and some of these are just as painful, look at Psalm 102 the writer was so distressed that he forgot to eat.
The Psalms were written between the time of Moses around 1440 BC and the Babylonian captivity 586 BC. Again its amazing how many reference’s there are to the Lord, it’s not surprising Jesus spoke about this in Luke 24v44, the law of Moses the Prophets and Psalms. It’s a way to describe the entire Old Testament that points to the Messiah, explaining His role as Prophet foretold in Deut 18v15-20. His sufferings were prophesied in Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53, His resurrection was predicted in Psalm 16v9-11 and Isaiah 53v10-11.
Here are some references in Psalms about the coming Messiah:-

Ref: in Psalms Ref: to Christ Fulfilment in NT
2 : 7 The Messiah will be God’s Son Hebrews 1: 5-6

16: 8-10 He will rise from the dead Luke 24: 5-7

22: 1-21 He will experience agony on the cross Mathew: 26-27

22: 18 Evil men cast lots for His clothing Math 27: 35 John 19:23-24

22: 15 He thirst while on the cross John 19:28

22: 22 He will declare God’s name Hebrews 2:12

34: 20 His bones would not be broken John 19:36-37

40: 6-8 He came to do God’s will Hebrews :10 5-7

41: 9 His close friend would betray Him Luke 22:48

45:6-7 His throne will last forever Hebrews 1:8-9

68 :18 He ascended into heaven Ephesian’s 4:8-10

69 :9 He is zealous for God John 2:17
69 :21 He was offered vinegar for His thirst on the cross Mathew 27:48

89 :3,4,35,36 He will be a descendent of David Luke 1:31-33

96 :13 He will return and judge the world 1 Thess 1:10

110 :4 He is the eternal priest king Hebrews 6:20

118 :22 He is rejected by many but accepted by God 1 Peter 2:7-8

Also take a look at Psalm 34:7 & Psalm 35: 5-6, then cross reference them with Genesis 16:7, the angel of the Lord (second person of the trinity), all these amazing prophesies are now to be enjoyed in our time. When we become born again by God’s good grace, we look forward to the coming of the Lord for a second time.
So let us rejoice and be glad at this special time of the year, when we remember the greatest gift given to the world, a Saviour Christ the King.

God bless and keep you all safe and well. Mick

An Answer To Prayer
A dear friend of ours Neil was diagnosed sometime ago with an advancing pelvic cancer
involving his prostate, bowel, pelvic wall, bladder and lymph nodes. He had already been given chemo and radio therapies including a colostomy bag. He was told that his life expectancy would be no more than three years. Last Wednesday he had to attend surgery called a pelvic exenteration and was told by the surgeon that the cancer had completely gone. Many of us had prayed for sometime that the Lord would restore him to health. We thank the Lord with Neil for his deliverance. We are so thankful that we can share this good news. So whatever we face let us never give up and keep trusting our dear Lord.

Christmas a time to reflect and rejoice
Last year our Christmas celebrations were extremely restricted owing to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic. We hope this year will be different although that is unknown.
Whether we experience a near normal Christmas or not, we do have a good reason to celebrate in our hearts the wondrous conception and birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. We will never fully appreciate why Jesus should so humble Himself by taking human flesh as a babe and to experience life here on earth. We truly can be thankful that His purpose through His death on the cross was to give us salvation by His redeeming blood. Through His sacrifice our relationship with the Holy Trinity has been restored. We now by faith receive our sins forgiven and the promise of eternal life. We are grateful for His first coming and we wait for Him to return as He has promised.
May this hope give us much comfort. Every blessing. Roy
