Just a couple of thoughts.

When watching the European Athletics, I saw that the athlete’s had to qualify to get to the final, with a chance of a medal, while putting their bodies through torture to win the prize.

Across the road from us is a holiday let where a key safe holds the key for the house.

There were some men who were trying to open the key safe but failed!!

My wife went across and opened it as the fingers of the men were too big!!

The digits have to be exactly in line to open the box for the key, but their large fingers would touch the other digits not allowing the box to open. So close but without success, but once opened they could enter the house.

Thinking about things in the Bible Paul in 1 Cor 9:26-27 disciplined his body to serve; to receive the reward prize. Math 16:19 Jesus said to Peter “I will give you the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.” To qualify means to repent, believe, turn and run to the cross. Without John 3:3 we are disqualified.

Of course, we don’t have to torture or beat our bodies because The Lord Jesus Christ has already gone through it for us. We win because of His finished work on the cross on our behalf. Jesus said ” I have come so they may have life in abundance, joyous full life”

Praise the Trinity of life. Thank you so much for your continuing prayers and support.

God bless. MICK.

Autumn Approaching

How the seasons change, Summer has almost gone. The harvest in the fields safely gathered in.

What a year so far, with the heatwaves and drought.

There is also a drought spiritually in our land for the word of God. In 1 Chronicles verse 2 it says “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

As we naturally all need water so we also need the Holy Spirit to move in and through us as faithful witnesses. May the Lord show us what we need to do. God bless Roy.

Prayer

Lord Radstock, who joined the Plymouth Brethren in the 19th century after he was saved became a missionary to Russia. One time he was visiting Norway and while he was in a hotel room he heard the noise of someone playing the piano very badly continually. This started to grate on him somewhat so he went downstairs to see who was causing this.

He witnessed a little girl sat at a piano who was hitting the keys and striking so many dud notes. Then he saw a man come along and sat down beside her and after a little while as they played together, there was the most beautiful sound that emanated around the building. The man was the girls’ father and it dawned on Lord Radstock that the father was the famous composer Alexandr Borodin who wrote such masterpieces such as Prince Igor.

This reminds me that when we come to God, we have a lot of dud notes and Jesus sits with us in our prayers and turns them into something wonderful. Often, we may not know what to say and feel too broken or cloudy minded to verbalise anything. It is then we push on despite how we feel. We don’t have to come to the Lord with lengthy prayers necessarily, but we bring our heart to Him with our prayers. We know that we have a friend and intercessor with us who makes our prayers acceptable at the throne of grace.

Prayer Clock

If you feel you would like to be on our prayer clock, or if you no longer want to be part of it,

Please contact Dave Sibley at Dave_lin@hotmail.co.uk or phone 07967912226. Many Blessings.

What a Friend we have in Jesus

Joseph Scriven was born in Ireland in 1819. He planned to marry and the day before his wedding day his wife was drowned. His grief was so bad he moved to Canada. He fell in love again to Eliza Price. A week before his wedding she became ill and died. Later heartbreak happened and his mother in Ireland became ill and he had not the funds to go and see her. He penned these words for her which have helped, encouraged, and uplifted generations. “What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bare. What a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer”. There are two more verses to this hymn. When different trials come our way, sadness and grief we can take it to God in prayer who is always there for us. God Bless, Heather.

The Winds of Adversity

In 1990 a group of scientists embarked on an experiment called Biosphere 2 which involved the construction of a self-sustaining Ecosystem built to sustain life in a colony within a sealed enclosure. Inside the dome were included, rainforests, a mini-ocean and a desert. The projects main aim was to produce everything that was needed for survival such as oxygen, food and water without any further input from the outside world. This was with a colony of eight people living inside the large enclosure. A main lesson was learned in that although the trees grew rapidly, they flopped over and could not remain upright when they reached a certain height. It was realized that in the natural world, trees experience winds in the wild and wind stresses trees, pushing them back and forth. This forces the roots to grow deeper and the trunks to grow stronger so without the wind the trees remained weak and fragile.

When sports people aim to reach their full potential, as part of their training they will endure much stress to their bodies in order to fulfil the right strength, build and fitness needed to realize their goals and ambitions. As part of our Christian growth, God uses adversity in life to shape us and mould us into His image. Although it seems unpleasant and above our ability to cope and with no end in sight. The Lord in his wisdom and grace works out all things to the counsel of His own will for our sanctification. This leads us to a deeper trust in the Lord and produces Christian contentment in the face of overwhelming circumstances.

A W Pink wrote:

“Contentment, then, is the product of a heart resting in God. It is the soul’s enjoyment of that peace which passes all understanding. It is the outcome of my will being brought into subjection to the Divine will. It is the blessed assurance that God does all things well, and is, even now, making all things work together for my ultimate good. This experience has to be “learned” by “proving what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). Contentment is possible only as we cultivate and maintain that attitude of accepting everything which enters our lives, as coming from the hand of Him who is too wise to err, and too loving to cause one of His children a needless tear.” Comfort for Christians Chapter 16 – Contentment. We pray that the seed we have broadcast will in due time bear fruit for the Lord.

We thank those who have enabled us to be at the shows.
